The storytelling program at Bumblebee is designed to augment the classroom language arts activities. The program uses folktales from around the world as well as original stories and music as the basis for a wide range of literacy building experiences.
Listening skills, predicting and sequencing abilities are developed as the children participate in the stories that are shared. These stories become richer as the children act them out, giving them an understanding of story structure from the inside out. The students’ storytelling skills are enhanced when they add onto stories, create group stories and narrate their own stories for their classmates to act.
Incorporating rhythm, rhyme, humor and repetition, Storytelling engages the children and makes them an integral part of the story and the surrounding activities.
